About the Poem

A whimsical poem from the upcoming book, "The Prince of Nonsense" due out next year, this poem is in the tradition of "Peter Piper Picked A Pepper. " It plays around with the "P" sound & is a fun tongue twister for kids of all ages. In the tradition of Dr. Seuss & my recently departed idol Mr. Shell Silverstein.

Picnic

Penny the Peppermint Poodle

And Perry the Purple Peacock,

Walked with a pair of parasols

To play in the park down the block.

They packed a picnic with a peach

A pear, a prune and a pickle.

There was a piece of pie for each

And a piece of pumpernickel.

Their pink pal Pete the Parakeet

Prepared pizza and plum strudel,

For Perry the Purple Peacock

And Penny the Peppermint Poodle.

Thank you for "Picnic". Brings back lots of memories of tongue twisters. Here in Ontario, Canada, tomorrow we will be celebrating Canada Day with a Family BBQ. I'm taking "Picnic" with me as a tongue-twister for my grand kids.
