About the Poem
This poem was written for my nephew, Larry, who was killed while riding a three wheeler near a highway. He was a very special and extremely handsome young man. Larry had a smile that would touch the heart of anyone who new him. He was 22 when killed. This is the poem I wrote for his funeral.

| Some called him "little Larry", some called him "squint" His smile was his trademark, wherever he went. A room would brighten when Larry came in 'cause the first thing you saw, would be his grin! A son and brother so precious; a friend so true! Whatever he had, he'd share it with you! A thought, a deed, a kind word for a while But always, oh always, He'd share 'His Smile'. Our hearts are breaking, our thoughts are going wild! We've lost our friend: We've lost our child! "But only for a while," I heard Jesus say "He's been chosen for the Master's Bouquet!" Hand selected by Jesus from this 'garden of life' Gone to Heaven!-He's through with this strife! Why is he gone? God only knows. But Oh what a treasure, A "smiling rose!" |

Your poem made me cry. It was beautiful as it came from the bottom of your heart. Your nepthew reminds me of a friend I have just lost he was killed, he got stabbed 4 weeks ago. His name was Lewis he was 18 and he would also light the room up with his smile.

I really liked your poem! The poem really touched me because one of my classmates and friend died on 12-23-03. HE was only 16 yrs. old. He had a beautiful smile,he would light up a room with his smile. Everyone loved him and he loved everyone especially his family. Thank you
