My Treasure - For Mom

I look back on these years
To see how far I've come and grown,
I take a trip down memory lane,
And what I see has shown ...

That every step I've taken,
You have been there by my side ...
From infancy to adulthood,
We've stood the test of time.

You cradled me and nurtured me,
Through all these many years;
You held me and did comfort me,
Through happiness and tears.

You'd pick me up when I would fall,
You'd dust me off and then,
Encourage me to get back on
That horse and ride again.

Your constant care and loving,
And your warm inviting heart,
Has always been a treasure that
I knew would n'er depart.

If I could be "just half" the person
You have been to me ...
Then you have taught me well dear mom,
For in my heart I see ...

A woman whose most gentle soul,
Embraces me each day ...
A woman whom I dearly love,
Much more than words can say.

My mother is my hero and I love her more than words can express. She is blind for the most part, 82 years old and lives alone. I feel this poem says a little of what I feel for her. Thank You Kit McCallum for writing this beautiful poem.

This poem gets my vote because I have been seperated from my mother after 30 years of her being so close to my life. Mom and I have been through abuse and we have seen through the other side. 2 years ago I found myself having to move to Canada to be closer to my husbands family. In order to do that I had to leave mine behind and though I miss all of my family and I miss all the babies I have never met it is my mom I miss the most, who through it all gave me the strength I needed to be the woman and mother I am today. this is a beautiful poems. I don't quite get along with my mother since I was 13 yrs old. But Since I found out I was pregnant with my little girl, she was there with me in the hospital. I guess that shows she still care about me, I love my mother. I wish we can get along more.
