About the Poem
I wrote this poem in the 1940's, when I was eight years old. Even then I realized the value of friendship. Although it is childish and short, it still means a great deal to me.
Lonely Little Boy |
by Sammy Lane Sharp |
I saw a lonely little boy, walking down a railroad track I didn't see a trace of joy as I looked back If I see him again, I know what I'll do Say, Hi there friend, Let's play! me and you. |

This poem shows all of us that there is something that we can do for the world. That we need to open up and love the world. Even if we don't know them. There's too much hate. This poem tells us that we need to love and be friends to everyone.

i think this poem is wonderful it is very touching in the few words and it says so much in few words. i would give it a 10. (10 being the best) it speaks in ways other poems cant that are pages long. sometimes the best poems that have little to no words say and mean the most. thank you to how wrote this even if it was years ago.

As I was looking for a poem for my little 8 year old's birthday to give him, I ran accross this poem and was very impressed. This is well spoken for an eight year old. My little boy also likes poetry and I am making a birthday card for him with a poem on it. Thank you for sharing your poem.
