About the Poem
We are all many things: students, parents, employees, consumers, friends - the list of titles is endless. But no matter what or who we are, no matter what life throws at us, we have to roll with the punches. This is a commentary on taking life in stride from the point of view of an inanimate object.

no more harpoons spears arrows pinpricks no more dust motes fly towards freedom upon impact the worn leather gives but will not break beaten smooth over the years yet never yielding the stolid cylinder swings and comes to rest no Newton’s helper no opposing force soaring away no pressure dampened contact saves the vessel the pendulum swings back again for more dead hung incapable of falling unable to leave the ring |
