About the Poem

This poem is the only one I ever wrote. I met my Eurydice, the woman I would search the ends of the Earth for, from Heaven's Door to the Gates of Hell.

To Browneyes, my muse.

Soul Mate

we meet on the street
my true love and i
by chance or by fate
i cannot decide
but there's another
not me at her side

i know the moment
her eyes lock with mine
i've gone through my life
ignorant and blind
the taste on my lips
of water not wine

i've known love before
in some other time
before she is gone
i see in her eye
a thousand, thousand
lives shared, she and i

i cannot despair
i know in my heart
together at times
but never apart
she's one of my dreams
my soul's other part

Oh yes. We each have our Eurydice. The perfect woman who for some reason or other slips out of our reach. She becomes our inspiration. Our Muse. She breaks our hearts. If only ..

This poem sends chills up my spine! How sweet, romantic, hopeful, hopeless, all at once!
