About the Poem

While my boyfriend was working on typing out a unique and new piece of writing he had just written, I managed to write this out in exactly enough time to be able to give it to him as soon as he finished....The "get it?" part is that, as an expression of love, rather than saying "I love you" or "Aww babe" or any other "happy noise" like that, I usually just say, "My Ryan..."

My Ryan

He steps into the room,
dark hair shining,
incredible eyes gleaming
(usually with some sort of mischief),
muscles flexed and calling my teeth
to their sinewy flesh.

My eyes brighten, my breath in my throat,
and a warmth flows through me.

He is my love,
my lover,
my partner in life,
my lifepartner,
my emotions,
my joy,
my bittersweet sorry,
my teacher,
my student,
my parent,
my child,
and my very best friend.

He is...
My Ryan.
