About the Poem

This is about longing and desire. In my own heart, the fire of love burns for a certain person, and this poem clearly says that nothing in the universe matters, but my love for him, and the one thing I desire - for him to return that love to me.

The Look Of You

What does it matter of a spring's blue sky,
the color of morning's dew?
It makes no difference, for it is of naught to compare it,
to your eyes, and the look of you.

O tell me, dear one, of your heart's desire
and I tell you mine, so true -
It's to be by your side, forever to feel
the warmth of your arms, and the touch of you.

Does a life one lives, if not with a heart,
and a soul forever growing new?
Grant me this, I beseech you, the life of this present,
Yourself, and the love of you.
