About the Poem

I wrote this the day after my fiancée proposed to me. I came home from work to find the most romantic setting. There were candles lit on every available space, and vases filled with roses and carnations. He had cooked and served dinner and after we had Champaign. In my glass was a diamond ring which he took and on his knees - proposed.

The Beginning

My love for you will never diminish,
I'm with you from start to finish.
You have bettered my life in ways you can't imagine,
without you, I wouldn't have anything.
You make me laugh, you make me smile,
being with you is all that's worthwhile.
Life for me was so hard to bear,
not anymore because you'll always be there.
I hope you will love me always,
and not let it slip away in a matter of days.

The beginning for me was the day I met you,
the start of life anew,
of having someone my whole life through.
Having someone to care,
at times when life is so hard to bear,
and having tales with whom to share.
Having someone to say "I LOVE YOU"
and mean it with all his heart,
that is what I have because I have you.

This poem really touched me. I have been looking for the right words to tell my girlfriend that I love her and to tell her the depth of my love that I have for her.
