About the Poem
Sometimes when our lives become burdened with weights, we desire to be somewhere else, to escape. Sometimes that desire manifests itself in an attraction to a person - to what we perceive to be their happiness.
Imagined Mistress |
by Tammy Burt |
The lights are on inside. The soft glow of family pageantry Escapes through lacy curtains And flutters to my feet. The sound and smell of life, Of love and belonging, Of security. My eyes interrupt their privacy - My heart listens. But they don't know, I've caught them unaware . . . Walking down this dark asphalt path. A hidden spectator A connoisseur Of life's possible scenarios, As seen through The lit window to Your world. |

Nibbles
Tammy. I loved your poem and it really seemed to fit what I am looking for. I write about a man I only know through my writings, a dream man, although he does exist outside of my imagination. He is the epitomy of man (to me) and symbolizes ALL that I could ever wish for. He is my very own James Bond without the spy stuff. Thank you
