About the Poem

Well, the gist about this poem is that it's about someone who has dedicated themselves to the one that they love. It tells how the love will last, and how they love that particular person with everything they've got.

If you look closely, you'll notice that this is kind of a poem inside a poem. The beginnings and endings of each verse can combine and make up a shorter, condensed version of the original.

That Thing Called Love

Ashes to Ashes - that thing called love
It is a trial sent from above
But to succeed, you must have trust
In the one you love - Dust to Dust

Fire and Water - opposites attract
Each fill in the gaps the other one lacked
And when it seems, not all is well
Love will get them through - Heaven and Hell

Heart and Mind - mine are yours still
For cupid will choose anywhere, at will
Love's arrow flew, my heart you stole
Now I am yours - Body and Soul

And All My Love - words can't describe
The love I have for you inside
Whatever happens we'll make it through
And I'll forever be - For You.

I hardly ever (in fact never) give good poems praise, but this one is better than good. I prefer poems that rhyme to poems that dont and the writer has orchestrated the lyrics in this poem beautifully. I love this poem and i think it deserves more recognition.
