About the Poem

A lovely and tender experience my sweetheart and I had last summer - a second honeymoon twenty-three years after the first - and infinitely sweeter!

Second Honeymoon

In the rich forest's
Moonlit midnight,
His hands
With loving, lingering
Feather touch tenderly traced
Tingling paths on succulent beaches . . .
Skin warm against velvet skin
My lips soft against him
In the crackling gentle glow
Of campfire-light by the river;
Our love as pure as a drop
Of mountain water on a leaf.

I'll always remember
Golden September . . .

Beautiful. As an avid camper and a formerly married man, I can just picture the beauty and serenity that Rosemary describes. It simply took my breath away.
