About the Poem
I lost a friend, and the love of my life, when he got into drugs. But before he did that I was very happy. He gave me the most beautiful ring ever, and I never take it off. It has been three years since we broke up, and I still worry about him. He was my best friend. Now everyone thinks I am stupid because deep down I still love him. I worry about him all the time; the ring reminds me of all the happy times we had together and all the dreams we had.
The Ring |
by Kristie |
She walks alone waiting for him to return everyone wonders why she just can't see She is waiting by a door that will never open A sun that will never rise But they never saw the love she did in his eyes They talk to each other now through their dreams She remembers the day he gave her that beautiful ring And the day that she gives up on the door that supposedly will never open is the day she returns the ring to him While he is lying in a coffin Being lowered into the sand With all their hopes, dreams, and memories Locked on one woman's hand. |

This poem reminded me of my son's father. he wanted to get married after we found out I was pregnant, but i could not because of the drugs. Thast was 25yrs ago and I still have the ring he gave me and now we also share a well respected young man together. Kristi if you love this man wait for him and help him. The rewards are much greater than wondering what could have been.

My fiance just passed away, and all I have left is the ring on my finger. He died 9 months ago, and I have yet to take it off. There are alot of memories tied to this ring, and it will go with me when I go. Thanks for writing such a beautiful poem.
