About the Poem
This poem is very fresh to me because it describes a recent break up that affected me very hard. I met the man of my dreams and truly felt he was my soul mate. Unfortunately the destiny of our relationship was to be ill-fated and we broke up on Christmas Eve. He lied to me about how much he "loved" me and he hid behind all of his fears. He was too afraid to be able to let the past go and be happy and wanted to be comfortable in his fake existence. So when I spoke to him the last time, I said don't a number of times, because I could never trust him or believe in him again. So, I DON'T want him to do anything for me anymore. It's sad but it's true...the letting go is so hard, yet in the end it made me stronger.

DON'T LOOK AT ME THAT WAY I don't want you to see my pain, it's too graphic for you DON'T TALK TO ME THAT WAY I don't need you to patronize me, it's too potent for you DON'T FEEL ME IN THAT WAY I don't desire you anymore, it's too demanding for you DON'T TASTE ME IN THAT WAY I don't crave for you, that's too authentic for you... and by the way, DON'T HEAR ME IN THAT WAY You never tried to anyway, that would have been too real for you. |
