About the Poem

Old loves are sometimes very hard to get out of our hearts and minds. Sometimes we take the risk of losing a new love by still reaching for the old. Be careful the steps you take with emotions of the heart.

Bargains?

I waited for your call
like a blind man looking for the sun;
At six-o-five I realized
it wasn't going to come.

How could I have been so naive
to think the last thing on your mind;
Would be to dial my number
to reassure me one last time?

For you were seeing someone you loved
an emotion you still deeply feel;
So I'll repair my hurting heart
in time I know it will heal.

I hope your evening was everything
you wanted it to be;
The choice is yours...
choose her now, or from her be set free.

You say she only needs a friend
yet this one thing you will find;
If you want a life with someone new
you have to leave the past behind.

If friendship is what you are seeking
go ahead, walk through that door;
Who knows...in the end
you may get more than you bargained for.
