About the Poem
I wrote this poem after spending a day reading magazines. I was stressed from school and I started reading articles on gangs, the handicapped, etc... I then came to realize that everyone has problems. It wouldn't be life if you didn't.
Victims |
by Heather Miller |
To the athletic boy, The pressure of masculinity. To the teenage girl, The pressure of sexual behavior. To the mentally retarded, The fear of disturbing comments. To the young gang member, A sense of self. To the student on campus, A sense of identity. To the serial killer, The blame of consciousness. Are we strangers? Or do we live the same secret? Are we out of control? Or are we just victims? Victims of life... |

Go to the head of the class ! Sounds like a very good question ? I believe we all have our weaknesses and shortcomings and life brings them out in a hurry. So it's really kind of stupid to look at others and think they are so much different than we are, or more of a bad person. Some of us just seem to be able to control and deal with life more adaptively.
