About the Poem

Hi! My name is Stephani and I am 14 years old. The real reason I wrote this poem was because ( and this is going to make me sound really bad! ) I cannot keep a guy! I was with one boyfriend for a little over 8 months but I think it was mainly out of sympathy. I don't mean that to be mean but he had just lost his brother and I was trying to "heal his pain" if you know what I mean. Eventually I realized that it wasn't my mission in life to keep this guy happy all the time and that it would probably be good for him to hurt once in a while, you know. Well we broke up but we're still like best buds . . . and I, personally, enjoy being around him much more.

Why Can't I Get It Right?

Sometimes it just the little things, that make me shiver with love.
The way he winks at me from across a crowed room.
The way he lightly touches my arm when he knows that I'm upset.
Then I realize I'm not IN love with him.
I'm in love with love.
And I know that it's not fair, just to string him along.
But I cannot trample on his already weak heart by breaking up the only
solid thing he has left.
I've given him all I had for close to 8 months.
But now my love is spent.
It's time to care for me.
He knows I'll always love him.
Even if it's not the same.
He's still my special guy, the one I'll never forget.
But deep inside I know it's time to go.
So now it's time to say goodbye.
But, I don't know where to start.
I just cry and whisper, "I'm sorry" and hope that he knows
That he's still my special guy, the one I'll always love.
But now it's time for me to go and I hope he'll understand.
I love him now and forever but it's time for me to be moving on.
He deserve someone who'll love him for everything he is.
And he deserves someone who'll tell him just like it is.
So he's still the one I'll love and dream about at night and I'll always
love him madly.
But it's time for us to part!

Maybe Malcom is the one who is confused? I really enjoyed your poem. Nothing against age, but it was really good for someone as young as you. I did enjoy it. Keep writing. your poems could confuse the whole world, but the only thing that matters is they make sense to you. I give you major props.

Honey, I really liked your poem. but you're only 14. Give it a while. You shouldn't be worried about boys right now. Someday, you're gonna find the guy of your dreams who loves you more than you'll ever know. then you'll get it right!

Im only 17, & Ive had this problem for a while; Ive found that being up front with the guys that I date works better; but I feel ya, & so do all the other 1 thousand million girls out there that are reading this exact same poetry, it happens to the best of us!

this poem is really confuse and does not reveal a understanding or knowledge about love. the fact that the author is fourteen makes it understandable!

It was a really heartfelt poem. I am 16 years old, and I've been there. I have a hard time settling down. One day it will work out for you. Until then keep up the awesome poems!
